iPaq 3635 not turning on, but it's not the battery (help!)

OK, my iPaq 3635 decided not to turn on. I bought a brand new battery, and the thing does now charge and have a charge light that will in fact charge solid if in fact it is charged. But it still does not turn on. I'm thinking it's the power button, or maybe a screen issue. It's weird for it to be a screen issue, becuase I would think either the screen or the backlights would turn on, which in fact neither do. No sound coming out either. Does anyone know of the problem, how I could fix it, and also if their are any programs out there that will remotely turn on my iPaq via hotsync (to see if it's the power button).

BTW - I've talked to Compaq CSRs and they can't figure it out quite either, so they have taken the "just send it in for more than it's worth and we'll repair it!" approach.
