Internet Troubles

Ok so i get home yesterday and for some reason the interent on my main gaming computer is not working.... so i check the labtop and the interent works just fine using the same exact connection (ethernet cable from modem)...

whenever i go to my network connections it says its connected ... put when i look at my ip in the status window of my LAN connection it says private ?

does any1 have an idea on y my interent isnt working?

The strange this is that it was working fine the night before but the next day its not and i hadnt been on the comp in between?

Please help
 
it says auto private address because its connected physically but the device its connected to, either the modem or a router, or if its a combo...Either way the device is not giving it DHCP information, IP and DNS....the simplist solution is unplugging all of your network equipment and plugging it back in and then type

ipconfig /renew *

in the command prompt in XP.
