does anyone know of a lcd or vfd that is nor more then 75mm in overall length (pcb included) that is backlit so i can see it through tinted acrylic, that can connect usb, and that does not have a keypad attached to the board.

i have been to both matrix orbital and crystal fontz and that have products that arre soo close to being when i need its not funny. but the thing is either too big, or not usb. un fortunetly for me serial is not an option. i have a at7max2 board with no serial ports and no room to add one on the pci ( pump is blocking it)

crystal fontz can customer build be one but i need to order 1000 of it :( any help here would be appreicated.
 
how about like... USB > Serial adapter perhaps?
 
heh do they work for lcds? most serial to usb adapters i have tried for other things just plain dont work.
 
wow thanks. prolly order that today. anyone have usb pinouts handy so i can take the external connection to a internal usb header
