iMovie HD '06 is an unstable steaming pile of crap.

Just got my macbook yesterday, was playing with iMovie HD a bit. It crashes frequently when deleting video clips. And by frequently I mean every other time I try to delete a video clip, the application just quits.

And it's not just me..

How did this pile of garbage pass QA testing?

Have you run Software Update? My brother's wife's got a MacBook and experienced 4 iPhoto lockups; she the updated the software and everything has been just peachy.

have you tried repairing perms, and trashing it's preferences?

I don't have a problem with iMovie HD6, but i've only used it sparingly on PPC only (maybe it's an intel thing?)

It's annoying, but for $50 (or free, with a new mac) it's really not much to complain about.

Now when FCP has a MAJOR bug (like not being able to see the properties of a timeline or clip.... EVER) then there's something to bitch about

that upsets me to hear as I have had nothing but good experiences with iLife, and this software suit really is one major thing mac REALLY has going for them (along with software in general, including OSX, recording, and other video/graphical means)

i hope the solution is just an update

Don't the Macbooks have an overheating problem or did they fix that?

lol. Apple was putting on a HUGE pile of thermal compound on the cores. It really is laughable, google a bit till you find pics from the Apple service manual. People have been removing Apple's mess, putting on their own AS5 or whatever in normal amounts and getting incredible decreases in heat.

Thats actually not true at all. it was a single incident in which someone got better temps, but that was because he did something to the fan switch or whatever. It was found that people actually only got remedial at best changes in their temps when redoing the thermal paste. AFAIK

Although they did put a shit ton of paste on.

Mine gets pretty hot but it hasn't locked up or anything like that. Most notebooks today run just as hot though.
