i think you are a bit confused
CRT is what is used to display an image and it is analog based. It can be SDTV or HDTV dependant on the circuitry.
HDTV is actually high defenition tv either be it 720p or 1080i. HDTV can be produced by CRT, LCD, DLP, LCOS or D-ILA.
Native HDTV is great. Upconverted DVD are not as good as native HDTV content.
