I think my flash drive died, any way to recover?

I have a Sandisk Cruzer Glide 256GB USB3.0 flash drive that I copied some files to. When I ejected and removed the drive, it felt really warm and when I put it in another computer, the light on the drive would not light up and the computer would not recognize it.

Is this drive recoverable?
Is this a one off freak occurrence or is there an issue with my primary PC that could kill more flash drives?

The drive and data on it is replaceable so nothing important would be lost if I can't recover the drive.

sorry bro.

Flash storage is nearly impossible to recover. Miracles do happen, though.

Probably, but it will likely require a boat load of cash. Data recovery services are expensive as they might have to desolder the flash chip off the PCB to read it.

You could always wait a while and try again. If that doesn't work and you don't want to try and recover the data, just toss it as it is likely dead.

By recover, I meant is there something I can do or try to get it working right now?

I still need to know what happened and if it will happen again.

crack it open the usb, chances are the SMD fuse ptc blown/trip, check current limiter diode, or the 5v regulator?
