3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.

Canada, in Ontario
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
I need every part except mouse and wireless adapter
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Wireless adapter and mouse
6) Will you be overclocking?
Yes of course
7) 7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?

tomorrow?
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.
*USB3 is important. Don't care for onboard video.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?

wheres the sata hdd cuz 50ish gigs of usable space isnt enough for your described usage

I might take out the SSD and opt for a 500GB 7200RPM instead. Spend $10 more and get the Seagate Barracuda (ST3500413AS) 7200.12 SATA3 6.0Gb/s 500GB 16MB Cache (OEM)

Are you doing anything that would require a hex-core? And how serious is your gaming?

Out of curiosity, why aren't you going with Intel?

My friends think AMD provides better value and their CPUs for their clock speed are significantly cheaper. Is that true?

I went hex-core to be "future-proof"...

Intel's Sandy Bridge is literally a game-changer, to the point that many of us here in GenHard won't recommend AMD unless you're spending less than $100 for the processor. (Oh, if you want to overclock, you need the Intel Core i5-2500K processor, which has an unlocked CPU multiplier.)

A hex-core won't "future-proof" your system. Worse, since gaming appears to be the most resource-intensive use of this system, those extra cores will go unused in most cases.

The main problem that I see from your setups is that you're gimping yourself on the video card. You need to look at either the HD 6950 1GB or the GTX 560 Ti as the bare minimum for 1080p gaming. But that means you're spending an additional $60 to $70 more on the card.

Thanks tiraides..Intel it is...Can I still overclock Intel Core i5-2500 Quad-Core Socket LGA1155, 3.30Ghz? I'd like to overclock to 4GHz at least (I won't be doing hardcore overclocking)

Hows my case too?

I think the limit over clock on the non K version is around 3.6Ghz.

I think the limit over clock on the non K version is around 3.6Ghz.

Actually, 3.8GHz with all four cores in use to 4.1GHz with a single thread with the non-K 2500. (Remember, the non-K LGA 1155 CPUs with Turbo Boost can be overclocked up to four Turbo multipliers above their default Turbo frequencies, and that the non-K CPUs do not allow the manual setting of the multi-threaded overclock multiplier independently of the single-threaded multiplier as the multi-core multiplier will remain the same number of steps away from the single-core multiplier as default. Thus, with the multiplier on the non-K i5-2500 set at its maximum 41x, the 2-core multiplier automatically becomes 40x, the 3-core becomes 39x and the 4-core becomes 38x.)

intel cpus are expensive :S, so I should go ahead with the Intel setup?? I am buying the parts tomorrow and building tomorrow as well

The case is really good gets great reviews, obviously the 500R is better if you can get it for a good price and can afford it and the 2500k will allow you to overclock since it has an unlocked multi. If you had to choose between getting the 500R or the 2500K i think its pretty easy to say get the 2500K.

The R series has great airflow in general, corsair got better with their cases as it went on and the 400 and 500R were the last to be made and as with all of corsair's cases are a pleasure to build with.

what about the case?

Yes, get the Intel processor. And definitely get the Core i5-2500K if you wish to overclock. (Do you have a third-party CPU cooler on hand? If so, what?)

The case is good, but if you need to cut corners, that may be one of the areas to start from. I say that because I believe that you also need a better video card for your monitor. But given all of the items that you're trying to buy with your $1000 budget, I don't want to recommend anything that busts it even further.
