How reliable are 68 to 80 pin adapters

How reliable are 68 to 80 pin adapters? Are there any specific brands or models that would be the best to buy? Are they so unreliable that they shouldn't even be concidered an option, if I'm only going to be using 1 drive?

Forgot to say for those who didn't guess, I'm refering to SCSI hard drives.

I've not had any problems with them, but then I'm not using them on newer systems or drives. These are older disks and controllers that don't even support LVD.

I have never had a problem with them but I buy mine from hypermicro.com which is known to have good quality converters. I have heard stories about some lesser quality adapters causing problems which is why I went with Hypermicro in the first place.
