How much RAM will last me?

I have 1gb of ram i think im going to build with a 754 system. However, i think i can only fill up 2 slots of the three with 512mb sticks. Is this correct? I want to ideally have 1.5gb..Is there a board that will let this happen? Thanks....How much ram are people going to need 2 years from now? Any Guesses?

Well, in probably 2 years, a gig will probably be standard for gaming pcs. Today id consider an entry level system to have 256, while a midrange/high end system has 1 gig/512. Itll be quite awhile before entry level pcs ship with a gig. Years away id imagine.

Well, atleast 1gig to last for 2 years, at that time the 1gig modules are prolly more common and at a lower price, just like with 1mb->2mb, or 4mb->8mb,....,....,....,64mb->128mb.

But lets see what BTX boards can offer at that time

Theres no need for 1.5 gigs and hammers will only run at 166 FSB with 3 sticks,

512MB is fine for now. But since this question is how much will last you, 1GB is fine for quite a while.
