Hey dudes i have a epox 8kha+ with an AMD 1700+ stuck in it. If i ever upgrade the processor, what's the highest AMD chip i could put in? Could i thereotically put in a 3000 if it's still got the same pin design as my 1700?
 
well you COULD put a 3000 in, but you wouldn't be able to run at the 3000's native FSB speed, so you would not get much of a preformance increase. the 8KHA is a 133mhz FSB so your real highest practical cpu would be the highest 133mhz FSB CPU (2400 or 2600+ IIRC)
 
Ok cool I'm not upgrading right now, just curious to see if a more powerful procesor could be installed...
 
You can get yourself a KT400 board for really cheap right now, if you're looking for a budget upgrade.
