Hey guys, I've got a 800mhz A20P IBM Thinkpad laptop a friend gave me. He said it had been dropped and now if I push the memory stick down while it boots it will boot to the IBM Thinkpad logo screen but thats all. It has no harddrive in it at the moment, and if i dont hold on the memory portion down while it boots i get no video. Any ideas?

Try taping the memory stick down, is it that you do not have the access door for the memory sticks? Get a harddrive and you should be set, borrow a friends or get a cheap small to test. Don't buy some large drive until you know that is the only problem.

well right now ive got an exta 10gb drive im trying in it and i have to actually press the whole board portion where the memory goes into, not just the actual memory stick. if i let go it freezes. so i'm in the process of taking it apart to see if theres anything that will stand out that could be wrong.
