So it appears my mobo is failing to post and I dont think its a PSU issue so I was going to get a new one but decided it was time for a full upgrade and was looking for some help since its been a good 3 years since my last build and I'm a bit out of the loop. I'm looking to upgrade to i7 so I'll be needing a new cpu, mobo, ram and vid card.
Here is what I'm currently thinking:
Mobo: EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 LGA 1366
CPU: i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz
Vid Card: ASUS EAH4870 DK/HTDI/1GD5 Radeon HD 4870
Ram: 4gb of corsair?
1) What will you be doing with this PC?
Gaming, Graphic Design
2) What's your budget?
$1k limit, less would be nice
3) Where do you live?
Texas
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget?
Mobo, CPU (i7 + HSF), RAM, vid card
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing?
Lian-Li Case
Antec 550w PSU (unless i need more for newer graphics cards and the 130w of the i7)
Standard CD-Rom bay
6 Sata HDD's (Western Digital, Seagate, Maxtor)
6) Will you be overclocking?
Never done it before but might like to try on this build tho. Nothing to big tho cause I plan on sticking with air cooling
7) What size monitor do you have or plan to have?
Dual 19" Samsung LCD's
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Probly right after I get back from CES so a little over a week.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard?
6+ SATA ports
Crossfire/SLI support would be nice
I'm open to any ideas, even if it is something steering me away from my i7 and/or 4870 thoughts. Thanks in advance!
