Help,Im an idiot,Im stuck in GRAW.

I need some help.
Im in mission one where the helo is called in to take out the bad guys just before evac.
How in the hell do you control the helo gunfire?????
Man, if I try the D stick all I do is get my guys shot to hell.
Once I got sorta close but the helo was shot down.
Am I stupid or is there something Im missing??? do you use the tactical map or the little com picture???? Im about to loose my mind.

select the chopper in the crosscom by pressing left or right on the dpad.
then pull up the map by pressing "back"
aim your little crosshair on the map at those red targets, and press up on the d-pad.

Hey,thanks....so its a combo of the cross-com and the tactical map,eh.
I must be too old. Maybe I should have asked my son.

or once you have the apache selected put your cross hairs over a targe and push up on the dpad.

Yeah, I spent 2 hours on this mission the first time I played it. I finally figured out that you could have the hele blow stuff up. I kept trying to take it out with my guns. But needless to say I beat that and also completed the game on hard. Game is pretty short.
