hd and cd drives best config?

quick question...

i have two wd 80gb drives. one is storage (ftp server), one is my system and installed programs and stuff.
i also have a liteon dvd burner and a dvd-rom drive.

i have them set up like this:

ide1: system as primary, dvd burner as slave
ide2: ftp storage drive as primary, dvd-rom as slave.

whats best config?
i do some dvd backup(not rip), and otherwise general work, gaming....

Well the norm is to keep cd drives and harddrives on seprate channels as the cd drives are supposed to slow down th HDD's.
I dont think this is as bit of a problem as it used to be andf i suppose you would be using the 2 cd drives at the same time huh?

If that is the case the setup you have now will do fine but other wise put your 2 HDD's on the primary ide channel and the cd drives on another.

My set up at the moment is 2 (120gb)HDD's on the on-board sata controller 1 (120gb)Hdd on pri ide and 2 cd drives on secondary ide and i will be putting another 80gb Hdd on the primary ide port as slave.
