Guide: How to make Duorb work on 4850

There has been alot of problems on the net with people with 4850 and 4870s getting high temps with the DuOrb.

I got stuck with one because thats all the had at frys and I didnt want to wait on shipping to volt mod.

Anyway after installing I had 36-38 idle and load temps that never seemed to peak. Once I saw 100c... I shut ati tool down. I used an entire tube of as5 remounting and the same thing happend every time.

I think its because the standoffs are a little too short for the card.

The way I got my to behave correctly is to not use the nylon washers that came with it.
I took those off and tightend it down carefully. After tightend the heat sink had about 1/16 of play in it (meaning I could slide it around). I played with the tension some more and got it snug.

Now my temps are 36-38 load in crysis are about 55 at 750 and around 60 in ati tool.
Havent checked load at 800 and 1.29volt but ide is still around 38.
Hope that will work for you. I actually put the stock heatsink back on the card for about a week.
