Basically - I am able to do one of the two - what do you guys think?

Both reference cards, both like new, but used.

Hmm tough choice. $60 diff. 670 seems a better value ($380 vs $399 new & price performance in general), but a 680 at ($440 vs $499 new) is a great deal too. Personally, I'd go with the 680, but I guess it depends on how much you are willing/want to spend. Are you getting swapping from your 7970?

Kinda sorta. I think I have found a buyer for the 7970, though they seem a bit flaky so I'm not sure. But yeah, I figure that I would see about this one. I am leaning toward the 680 as well..

The performance difference is practically nil, but compared to new prices, you're getting a better bargain on the 680 which might help mitigate some of the loss later when you resell it.

Or get the GTX 670 4gb probably about same as 680 or a lil more, but 4 gb should be good for future games. I know, I know, u can't future proof, but u can come close.

If you're @1080 i think either will do just fine. I have my 680 running 1200/7000 @1600 and have no complaints at all.

for the price, personally I'd only take the GTX670 if I also need $60 to spend on an SSD, otherwise I'd take the GTX680

Extra power is always worth it.

This. If youre value shopping, you probably wouldnt be browsing around the $400 neighborhood anyway. Im a firm believer that you should always buy as much GPU horsepower as you can afford. Even though the GTX680 isnt that much faster than a GTX670, its still faster and a GTX680 for $440 is a very nice price.

Go for the GTX 680. If you're going to blow nearly $400 anyway, might as well go for the best! :D

What if you score a GTX 670 for under $400 off of here or Ebay? I've never paid over $300 for a GPU thanks to [H] in the past. Currently it may seem that I have to pay a little more, but I'm feeling the 670 more even though i do have a 1440p monitor :(

For that price, the 680. You can OC the 680 and get better performance. I have owned both and 680 can be a better value at the right price.

Which reference cards are you buying/thinking about?

I have two of the MSI reference 670s and my only complaint is capacitor/coil whine.
If that doesnt drive you nuts, the 670 is a really stout card.

Maybe use the extra money to put towards SLi?
