GPU Upgrade 1070 or Rx 480/470?

Depends on where he's going. If he's going to the Bay Area (San Francisco), then he can check out "Central Computers" - small computer store chain in the bay and they got a bunch of 1080's, and 1070's in stock (at normal MSRP prices - Pleasanton Store). I saw RX 470's there but no RX 480's..

That's some nice porn.

I'm hesitant to believe a representative. However, I found actual source:
MSI Global

There's a caveat, though. The page specifically mentions "Global Warranty Service Locations for the Notebook" so I'm not sure GPUs are covered.

Ah yes, applies only for MSI notebooks.
MSI Global

Over here, you can see that the warranty terms for GPUs are regional.
MSI Global

So I'd still be very hesitant to follow this approach unless you contact MSI customer support and ask them specifically about this issue. And then keep that email as evidence if they do say yes.

The same links are what made me ask the representative, as when asking the CS for info they would ask pe for an s/n to start the rma lol. If he has doubts he should push for an Evga and be done with it.

oh i see your going to have it shipped to his hotel or what ever he staying at.....brick and mortar an actual walk in store as apposed to mail order. When i used china as an example, i was talking more about shipping charges but i guess threes a huge difference shipping to Chile vs the states. (maybe currency exchange doesn't help either?) I was wondering why you couldn't just order stuff direct to your home...but i suspect it complicated.

Yes its complicated to just ship here, there is taxes to pay in customs too and that is expensive. My dad's friends in Washington is able to buy using his credit card, he recommends using Amazon, i dont know if New egg has the free return policy. I think ill just buy online.
Here are my final thoughts
EVGA SC has high temps , but the FTW is better because it has:
- More power phases
- Dual bios
- RGB LED's
- First card in the range with hand picked silicon.
Considering this is FTW worth the extra $?

I have my doubts about the MSI due to some artifacting issues there was back in august, have they fixed that?

Otherwise, what MSI model is the best right now?

About the space in the case im a bit constricted cuz im forced to use the lower PCIE slot, i broke the upper one some time ago, stupid accident xD. Daño Slot PCI-Express , i hope ill be able to put the card under there again.

Asus Strix is very similar to MSI gaming x in temps. I if were to choose one of these 3 cards. which one you think is the best choice? Considering OC capacity, Cooling and Reliability

Asus temps: ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 STRIX Gaming review
msi temps: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming X review
evga sc temps: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC Gaming review

So is it better to buy the 1070 in a brick and mortar store. or purchasing online and have it delivered to my old man's friends house?
1070 - Newegg.com

Its funny how the FTW is cheaper than SC on Amazon, i wonder why

Thanks for your help compadres

There all solid choices!.......EVGA is typically known for the BEST rma service and it pretty rare they refuse anything! Asus has developed a few hits on their track record in refusing and or delaying RMA service on clearly defective hardware and there rep here is generally POWERLESS to intercede when or if this happens. MSI is pretty much middle of the road with no horror story's to speak of and i guess typical grade hardware and RMA service. I love Asus hardware these days i just worry about their customer service if its ever needed. Bottom line FLIP A COIN!

To reduce the EVGA 1070 temps you would increase the fan speed. It would still be quiet.

But I don't know about in the bottom slot. Blower style will be louder, though.
