You're quite literally comparing apples to oranges. Hatred is rated M not AO. What's the difference between stocking a game like Witcher 3 which is M and includes nudity and graphic violence versus a game like Hatred which is also rated M and contains graphic violence?
Who cares though? They don't have to use reason or logic to explain their choices, we might like it if they did, but certainly is not owed to us. Their store and they can carry or not carry items as they see fit. Now making this a habit, choosing to not carry games on what is perceived as a whim, could hurt their sales. Although limited to a few occasions I doubt it will hurt them at all.
On a separate note; my only objection to the game is the overly dramatic angst-ridden writing that comes across from the protagonist in the trailers.
