It's been a while since I've posted on the [H] but I just built a new computer last night and I'm having trouble getting esata to work. I have the GA-P35-DS3R and have the sata cables from the sata bracket connected to the purple sata connections which appear to be GSATAII according to the mobo manual, while the rest of the sata connections are yellow/orange and are labeled as just SATAII.

I have an external esata drive I put together a few months ago I want to connect via esata instead of usb. The drive is on, powered, and plugged into the esata port on the back of the computer.

The last computer I built was my athlon xp machine which was ages ago which is probably still in my [H] sig, so I'm not terribly proficient these days in troubleshooting this stuff. Is there something I have to do enable esata in the bios? Should my external drive just show up nicely in my computer?

What's the deal?

thanks in advance to any help.. it's very much appreciated
