front panel question

when you plug in, say headphones to front panel audio header does it turn off speakers? if so is there a way to wire onto the pins to make both work?

Not all do, but many. Your best bet would be to get a cheap 2nd soundcard for either the front or back. In my case, I use my XFI for my rear surround, which I direct my audio through, and my onboard soundcard for the front ports, which I use for my mic and voice audio.

Of course there is.
All you have to do is short the two wires (per channel) together
( like the jumpers you removed from the board to install the front panel stuffs do)

Your best bet would be to get a cheap 2nd soundcard for either the front or back.

There is no doubt that a real sound card is a much better sonic solution but there is really no need to spend money if you have some basic hand tools.

a minute with a pair of wire strippers and a soldering iron is all it takes.
