for new SATA drive, do pins 1 and 2 also need to be covered?

I just got this new drive with the 3.3 V issue, so I used Capton tape to cover Pin 3. But the drive still won't spin up. Do I also need to cover Pins 1 and 2, or is there something wrong with the way I covered Pin 3?

Covering pin 3 is all that is needed. Make sure that the whole pin is covered and the tape pressed down enough that the power connector isn't moving it with friction when being attached.

If you have a molex->sata adapter, those bypass the issue altogether.

If neither works, it's probably the drive.
