Greetings,

So I finally got my computer up and running, and of course the first thing I think to do after installing everything is, OVERCLOCK.. I bumped up the multiplier to 166X12.. The idle temps are reading 40-41C (CPU temp) and MB is 28C according to the BIOS.. @2700+ speeds on stock cooling, is this a safe area.. I dont want to put it under load yet, until I know it's perfectly safe.. This is my FIRST time overclocking..

2500+
1gb corsair XMS
true 480PSU
WD Raptor
A7N8X deluxe..

Next.. Do you think I should try and push it a little higher.. Maybe to 2800+ or higher.. I dont know If I should take the chance, or will nothing really affect it THAT much..

Thanks

the 2500+ is pretty easy to OC but if u only wanna push it little by little, may i suggest upping FSB instead? i helped a friend OC his 2500+ to 3200+ using 11 * 200 = 2.2Ghz :) 1.65 Volts

stock cooling should suffice but i would recomend the Zalman CNPS 7000A-AlCu for your quiet overclocking needs :)

Update: I upped it to 200x9.5 @ 1.9gz.. Temps went down to 39-40C idle.. Gonna try and push it some more..

YAY

Another UPDATE:

200x10.5 @ the same temps... I think I'm gonna keep it at this and try Prime95 on it..

200x11 for 2.2ghz is not at all uncommon with these chips with stock everything

With a little extra cooling and voltage more is usually possible (see my sig) It also helps to have an unlocked core, which are becoming hard to get.

You sould have no problem hitting 200x11 or even more. Is your RAM 3200 or 3500?
