Since I had a cd burner that was doing nothing except sitting in an old p3 box I decided to install it into my new comp and what a surprise something went wrong and now windows fails to detect any of my drives.
1. The dvd burner is set as the master as it is at the top of the case using the end of the ide cable. (correct logic?)
2. When windows couldn't detect my hdd's (I dislodged one of the connectors anyways that is fixed) it booted using the windows disk from the dvd burner.
3. yes the power cable is connected
Please don't be worried about offending me as this is new terrain for me and we all gotta start somewhere
