Hey,

Just finished piecing together my first HTPC build.

This will be running Openelec!

I would like some suggestions on my hardware that I have chosen, advice & suggestions are most appreciated!

CPU: AMD A10 5800K

Mobo: ASRock FM2A85X-ITX

Case: Coolermaster Elite 120

Ram: Corsair CMT8GX3M2A1866C9 (8GB)

HDD: Samsung Pro Series 840 SSD 128GB

Power: Silverstone ST45SF-G 450 Watt

Would I need a dedicated GPU or is the AMD APU enough to power 1080p movies?

Regards,

AMD should be just fine to handle 1080p content with that build. You might be able to scale back to a less "robust" SSD maybe the 840 non-pro to save a couple bucks that you might could put towards a dedicated GPU in the future should you ever want it to become a Steambox.

Thanks for the reply! I forgot to add in the list I have a bluray drive to go in as well.

Also, I have an old gtx 460 sitting at home which I could throw in if the need arises!

The AMD apu will do everything you need it to do 1080p

I use the a8-something in my htpc :)
