Hey folks, just wanted some help in finishing off a new gaming rig.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Mostly gaming (World of Warcraft, TF2, L4D2, Crysis, etc.) and web browsing.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Budget is $600, including tax/shipping. The cheaper the better, though :)
3) Where do you live?
Orlando, Florida (there's a CompUSA run by TigerDirect not too far away)
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific.
Case, Hard Drive, RAM, Video Card, DVD burner, Windows 7
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Will be using Core i5, Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R ATX P55, Antec Earthwatts EA-750 (all unused).
6) Will you be overclocking?
Nope.
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
23" 1920x1080, the NEC EA231WMi
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Within a month.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
RAID/Xfire/SLI are nice to have handy, but not an absolute necessity. I got the Gigabyte mobo for around $85 recently.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license?
Nope, will need to buy Win 7.

Thanks, Danny!

I found the Cooler Master HAF 922 for $89 (including shipping), so I figured that if I included the HAF into your build cost, minus the 4890, I'd have around $245 back, which should give me some wiggle room to look for a new or used GTX 285/HD 5850.

Thanks, HG. Since 5850/5870s are disappearing as soon as they arrive in, I guess I'm probably better off using the 4890 as a stand-in, 'til stock/prices hit a more positive point, in which case the 4890 becomes a very nice backup card :) Those combos you linked fit the bill very nicely indeed ... hopefully there will be some price reductions/Bing cashback % increases around Black Friday/Cyber Monday time ...

Update: got a GTX 285 for $263 last week, should fill in for the overpriced 5850/5870s for now.

Is that a BFG GTX 285 at Best Buy? I know they was selling the BFG GTX 285 for under $300.

nice deal, used?
It was a refurb from *bay, the Gainward GTX 285 Cao Cao (non-reference cooler).

Yeah, Best Buy had the BFG GTX 285s up for $289.99 when I checked out that deal. It was the shipping costs that nixed the deal for me, even after cashback. Now they are featuring EVGA GTX 285s for "only" $379.99

Why are these cards still so expensive? I got my GTX 285 back in May for $230 (granted, that was after a 40% discount). With the release of the new ATI 58XX and 59XX series, one would assume that the GTX line would drop in price. $330-380 for a card that is a year old seems a bit excessive, even if they are good video cards.

NVIDIA is banking on their name, and hoping people would see that their higher priced card would be the better option, simply because its more expensive. :p

Update: got the Lian Li Lancool PC-K7B ATX case for $59.99 before cashback as per Black Friday deal on the Egg. Also got the Logitech G15 for $36.99 before cashback on *bay (couldn't resist for that price). Still hoping for better price drops on RAM/HD/DVD burner :p
