Faster loads: 2 x WD360GD in RAID-0 or one WD740GD.

Just looking for what will load my apps and games fastest.

And ideas?

Thanks!

Both of these are Raptors, right?

Since they've similar specs, this is going to be a tough call. Considering that the 74GB Raptor has a higher transfer rate (and possibly slightly faster access time) than the 37GB version, it is going to be a tough call. I guess it depends on what kind of games you tend to play (meaning, whether the games a full of small files to load or just one huge file). For specs as close as these two, i'd imagine RAID0 option will be better for large files while single drive option will be better for lots of small files... ;)

I hope that helps. ;)

I saw such a remarkable improvement in file transfer/game loading when I went from a single drive to Raid 0 that I can not imagine a single drive of similar specs to those in a Raid 0 configuration being able to compete at all. Yes, the new Raptors are a little better than the originals, but dare you say 50% better?

I absolutly love my 2 36.7 gig Raptors in RAID 0, i love them so much i just ordered a SATA Raid card and 2 more WD Raptors and im going to run 4 36.7 gig Raptors in RAID 0!! Its gotta be fast right lol, ill post some scrennies and benchmarks tomorrow if everyone is interested, here they come from newegg they will be here tomorrow!! WHOO HOO

Well, you're probably right there... However, it is highly dependent on the kind of work you do on the computer - small files require quick search and high burst speed, while large files needs high sustained speed... It is quicker to search through a single drive than an array, I guess?! ;)
