From No Mutants Allowed:
In addition to including the highly anticipated game, this premium version of Fallout: New Vegas also includes the game-inspired items below:

♠ “Lucky 7” poker chips. Each of the seven poker chips was designed to represent chips from the major casinos found on the New Vegas strip and throughout the Mojave Wasteland.

♠ A fully customised Fallout: New Vegas deck of cards. Each card in the pack has been uniquely illustrated to depict characters and factions found within the game. Use the cards to play poker, blackjack or Caravan, an original card game that was created by Obsidian especially for Fallout: New Vegas!

♠ A recreation of the game’s highly coveted “Lucky 38” platinum chip.

♠ A hardcover graphic novel “All Roads”, that tells the story of some of the characters and events that lead up to Fallout: New Vegas. “All Roads” was written by Chris Avellone, the game’s creative director, and created in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics.

♠ ‘The Making of Fallout: New Vegas’ DVD. This documentary DVD will contain exclusive video content, including interviews with the developers in which they take you from concept to creation and discuss topics such as story, setting, legacy of the Fallout franchise and more.
No price listed.

You are correct:
Bethesda says the PC version of the collector's edition will retail for $69.99, while the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will be available for $79.99.
Not a bad price, all things considered.

Looks pretty cool. Got the F3 CE might as well get this one too. :D. Thanks for the info.

You kidding me? A collectors ed. for an expansion? At $80.00 no less..

I'm going to try and remain calm here. LOL!

Fallout: New Vegas, absolutely is NOT an expansion pack. New Vegas is being designed by a team that's already proven themselves to be capable of creating a Fallout game that's not only bigger than Fallout 3, but much better as well (and that's saying a lot, since I loved the first game.)

To even suggest that Fallout New Vegas is not a game in its own right is just downright insulting to Obsidian! For me, this is THE game of the year, and the one that's on the very top of my most-wanted list.

As for the collector's edition - I honestly believe that the Fallout 3 collector's edition, which I missed out on, is one of the coolest ever. I covet that lunchbox, and that Pip Boy bobblehead toy. Now is my chance for redemption.

What's that? A deck of playing cards with the Fallout characters on them! And poker chips! And a hardcover graphic novel! Count me in on this one!

New Vegas seems to be to Fallout 3 what Vice City was to Grand Theft Auto 3. Some of you will immediately understand the comparison I'm making here and some of you won't ;)

I've been getting most ce's of AA titles lately and since its only 10$ more I might as well get this one too. Long as they have a decent box + goodies I'm all in so to speak.

Obsidian is one of my favorite devs of all time. So I am with you there. I have not read up on the details of the game but assumed that this is an expansion/rehash. Same engine? Same gameplay?

Considering some of the developers behind Fallout 1/2 are behind this, I am pumped! Show Bethesda how to make a REAL Fallout game! :D

Most of Obsidian Entertainment is what used to be known as Black Isle Studios. The same development company that did the Original Fallout series. New Vegas may use the same engine and have some of the same gameplay as F3, but it is and entirely new game. It has many new features such as a totally rebuilt party system and new reputation system brought back from the original series ect.... More can be explain through the websites provided below..

Nice. I hope the making of DVD isn't complete shit like the one that came with the FO3 CE.

They're always shit, unfortunately. I've yet to see a "making of" DVD that's actually been worth watching.

But a "Making of" of the "Making of" DVD might be good for insomniacs.

Well that's just fine and all, I just hope this one's not gonna need a fucking enema in order to get it to run more than ten minutes without crashing like Bethesda's gamer bug tested pile of shit. What a mess that was, Yuk!

Now I must say after some major troubleshooting and tweaking, it runs fine now and I have been thoroughly enjoying it for a long time since and greatly look forward to more in the Fallout universe.

Maybe Obsidian actually has a paid QA dept. and won't rely on the gamers to test and fix the game for them. Ahem, the many "Unofficial patches" for Bethesda's games. Shame on them...

Never had any problems with Fallout 3.

I'm sorry, but that ranks at about a 9.8 on my Bullshit-o-Meter. Even X360 owners had to deal numerous issues like "ominous, floating exclamation marks invading the post-apocalyptic wasteland" and rainbow-colored raiders when they downloaded The Pitt DLC. After that, the PC release of Broken Steel was pulled because the installer didn't actually work.

Bethesda makes fun games — they just don't make very functional ones.

no one seems to complain about life after the 1.7 patch. Let's just hope they have a much better understanding of their engine now.

really excited, somewhat dissapointed though as new reno in fallout 2 was a very boring area IMO. I prefer the somewhat isolated packs of people forming a small town rather than a sprawling city full of places you forget to go. I just hated new reno and while I loved fallout 3 I do have some reserves about this one....plus fallout 3's graphics werent even that great when the game comes out. I am sure this game will look quite aged unfortunately.

Its probably because a sex/gambling/booze town is so cliche, the small settlements are always more interesting and have a more interesting past which is what fallout has always been about.

Oly ever had crazy flying ragdolls issues in 3..I've already pre ordered my $70 CE for PC, which is actually $10 less than console. Suck it consolers ;) lol flamebait. I kid, I enjoy some genres on console too....

It's actually just a preorder since it doesn't ship till mid november, but better to reserve a copy imho if you want it.
Look at the gamestop website and search for fallout in pc games. It's listed for sale as a preorder. (If it's elsewhere for preorder/sale i have no idea)

Fallout: New Vegas CE looks awesome! Me want. Starts counting pennies.... :p

Same here. And if I did they were my own fault. Usually by not installing a mod correctly or having the wrong load order.

You guys should consider yourself very lucky

My Fallout 3 suffers from stuttering and performance degradation after awhile right out of the box. Latest patch didn't help either. No mods or anything

I've manage to fix the stuttering by setting the pre-rendered frame to 1 in the graphic card driver. But performance degradation couldn't be solved, had to restart the game each time it happens

I dont think it can be denied that the game had problems. Heck, even now the graphics work great but I had to turn my sound acceleration to half to get the surround sound to work properly. Otherwise things 200 yards away sounded like they were in my ear.

Try these two mods, makes the game run butter smooth.

Stutter Remover.

RAM BOOST **Fallout 3 by default only uses a maximum of 2gb's of RAM. If you have more in your system you can change it to allow more memory to be used for the game**. This mod will do it. Just followed the instructions, its simple to use and you will see a huge performance increase.

I hope these two mods work when New Vegas comes out.

Would RAM BOOST be of any benefit for those not running any kind of very complex mods? A stock or fairly stock Fallout 3 shouldn't need anywhere near 2GB considering the console versions seem to do "just fine" with around 256MB.

I'm not sure, but it shouldn't hurt to try it out.
But I found this an interesting read (bottom of description of stutter remover). Basically, an object's size and the memory size used to hold it don't always agree with each other:

7.4: Hashtables:
Fallout includes a bunch of hashtables for looking up all sorts of things. They use a generally horrid hashtable implementation, but the real problem is they never resize their hashtables. When a hashtable gets overful, performance drops. If a hashtable is underful then a tiny bit of memory may be wasted. Unfortunately, much of the hashtable code is inlined all over the place, and FOSE makes various assumptions about the hashtables as well, and its not at all clear to me what the relevant threading model is supposed to be, so changing them safely is quite difficult.

Still, I have some hashtable hooks, and they're gradually getting better. FSR can increase the size of hashtables once they get overful. The act of resizing them is fraught with problems however - it can cause crashes or glitches, and the methods I use to prevent it from doing so can cause small performance stutters or other crashes or glitches. Still, at this point I think it might be working kinda decently. In the future I may replace or suplement this with overriding the initial sizes of certain hashtables.

I was relatively problem free... unless you consider some weird sound-looping bug that constantly spat out some metallic smashing noise that would persist through reloaded saves until the entire game was ended and restarted. Or, haha, the random ragdoll-spaz-bug that would send a fresh dead body stretching and flying around the entire world.

:p

I didn't have too many major problems with FO3. Some crashing occasionally early on, but that was fixed in the fist or second patch for me. After that it was mostly crashing on exit, which got quickly annoying.

And black isle was always considering vegas as a location for a fallout game. Hell, reno from FO2 was a compromise. Way looking forward to this game, and i may even spring for the CE.
