That looks pretty cool. It's obviously sporting a bit of a New Vegas vibe. I've been meaning to go back to the game for a minute and this might be the time.

Has anyone been playing this over the years? I last played summer 2019 and was thinking of coming back on a fresh character.
Is it worth playing as a solo character / SP experience, ignoring all the grindy/mmo-lite stuff. ie: quests and exploration. I would most likely use 1st to play on a solo/custom realm.

When I played in 2019 it was all just grinding loot and nothing else.
The list of DLC's is huge I assume there is a lot of meaningful content now.

A couple years ago I had a pretty wild arsenal and a giant compound on top of a hill. It was setup in such a way that I could shoot invaders and they couldn't really even see me. Per my wife, I guess they totally nuked the meta for all my gear and tore down old buildings, though.

Yeah it's a damn shame that I love Fallout with a passion but could never find more than 6hrs of interest in the 2 times I played it. :(

Well Fallout 76 vanished from Amazon Prime Gaming like half an hour ago from my browser on PC.

Only reason I bothered to check was so I could redeem FO76 on my Xbox One....

And that opened a whole other can of worms where I was trying to link my Xbox to Prime Gaming and urgggg if Google isn't giving me conflicting information

Can anyone send me instructions or a proper link on how to be able to redeem Prime Gaming rewards on my Xbox please? Thanks

April 11th.
https://www.thesixthaxis.com/2024/04/04/fallout-76-free-amazon-pc-xbox/

Amazon Prime subscribers will be swimming in Fallout-related content in April. Bethesda Softworks’ Fallout 76 will be available for free as part of that subscription on the same day that the new live-action Fallout TV series debuts. Starting April 11, Prime subscribers will be able to download Fallout 76 on Xbox consoles and Windows PC as part of Prime Gaming.

I don't see Fallout 76. 👿

I've tried 2 or 3 times to start Fallout, even completed several of the main and side quests......but after climbing and then descending my 10th or 15th mountain just to literally get anywhere in a reasonable amount of time, I realized a sad truth: I loved exploring DC. I loved exploring Boston. I sorta loved exploring New Vegas but I absolutely do not care one little bit about traversing the Appalachian mountains to find randomly scattered coal mines and old villages *while having to deal with the realities of an MMO*.

Those being....that perk-card system/game you have to constantly manage (There are 5000 videos about the RIGHT WAY to MIN/MAX your BUILD!....ugh I'm so sick of this "game within a game within a game within a game and if you don't put time into it you gonna lose!", it's like fucking Taco Town with this game)....then the constant need to set up and move and upgrade your 'camp', which completely threw me off the game.....and finally the lack of VATS. I'm one of those people who loves playing Fallout *not* like the terrible FPS that they believe it is (no cover system, unsatisfying FPS combat and weapons, etc) but like the tactical RPG that you can turn it into (near turn based) thanks to VATS when it's not an MMO.

I'm glad for everyone that has enjoyed this title but I ain't that guy.......

EDIT: There were some locations that I thought were cool (an airport comes to mind, with Quanset huts....that I actually managed to explore), but the lack of any real narrative beyond "Leave the Vault and...Survive" made me realize like I do with most of these types of games (The Division, etc)...once you reach the multiplayer-focused endgame, it's time for someone like me to probably uninstall.

I know what you mean but when I played 3 I played the whole thing through. I never played New Vegas but from what I gather it's the best one of all. Sad I missed that one because it was an extension of Fallout 3 directly after it.

The Atlantic City expansion is also 50% off on both Steam and the Microsoft Store. If you want the game on Steam the package that includes the expansion is $20, otherwise the standalone expansion is $15.

The base game free right now has all the expansion content, all versions do. The newer bundles just include some cosmetics and other mostly pointless crap.

Atlantic City is a free expansion, the DLC you are talking about is a cosmetic bundle:

The High Stakes Bundle includes the following bonus in-game C.A.M.P. items and cosmetics:

Casino Quarter C.A.M.P. Kit: Build your very own Atlantic City.
Civic Duty Power Armor: The Munis keep the city running. Fulfill your Civic Duty with this Power Armor!
Honey Pot 'o Gold Slot Machine: With a little bit of sweet luck you will be over the rainbow
Aquarium of the Atlantic Door: What treasures await you in the deep seas behind this door?
Large Overgrown Plushie: The Overgrown will take over your bedroom with this Large Plushie!
Rig Roll-Up Backpack: Rig, Roll, and Pack it up with this all-purpose Backpack!

- So yeah, you buy the base game = you get the entire game (y)

I'm going to try it Elder Scrolls is dated but I might like this game. I asked about World bosses on Steam I saw som Event bosses which looks pretty cool.
Even if Epic did offer it for free in the months ahead I would dislike having another 80 gig install on my Epic drive with errors inbounds.

If I put a couple hundred hours into 76 upon release and basically 100%'d it to boredom do ya'll think they have added enough content or changes since then to play through again? I think I stopped when they released legendary perk cards. I did really enjoy the game though.

I picked this up because why not, I've heard it's a lot better these days. First impressions not good. First, the game booted to a black screen with audio. Had to Google that apparently you need to disable VSync via an INI tweak to get this to stop. Did that, game starts up. I get in and create my character, take my photo, and...now I'm stuck. I can interact and jump and whatnot, but WASD movement does not work. Close game and Google again, apparently now I have to cap the framerate because the game can't handle 300+ Hz refresh? Jesus. I know it's an older game/engine but come on.

re this^^^: the code they are giving out is for XBOX, and it appears you can just enter the code into any MS/xbox account.
There are two separate codes to redeem: One for console and one for PC. They make the distinction pretty clear on the website.

It's not a Play Anywhere title, so claiming the Xbox key won't let you play the PC version and vice versa.

Can you claim both tho? I see they are separate keys, but choosing one stops from redeeming the other?

Edit - yes you can claim on both.

the "PC" one is for xbox, on PC.
Heh, even though I have a habit of mentioning that Xbox is Microsoft's universal gaming brand I still refer to games on their store for PC as the "Microsoft Store" version. Technically it's both, since they added the ability to purchase games through the Xbox app a couple years ago. And thank goodness for that since managing installations and downloads through the Microsoft Store app was always a pain in the ass. I've never had an issue with that in the Xbox app. They just need to add a shopping cart to the store now.

Tried to redeem, told me I already have '76. Went to the M$ Store, server error.

This game just hurts my eyes heard it was DOF blur that causes the problem I'll see if I shut it off.
