External-Internal SAS PCI slot adapters?

Has anyone used the adapter brackets to take an external SAS 8088 to an internal SAS 8087 connection like these? I've been running a Norco 24-bay chassis as a stand alone storage server, but I've got a spare Dell R710 I could use as an additional ESXi host at home and just run my storage as a VM. Already have the jbod power adapter I need to power the disks, so I would just need to pick up an 8-port external SAS card, one of these adapters, and two external SAS cables to move everything over.

They work pretty much as expected. You might be able to find the Supermicro version with integrated cable for less on eBay.
