esxi hardware monitoring?

Hello everyone, I have esxi 5 running on my supermicro X8DTL, which unfortunately does not have IPMI. Under health status in the vsphere client none of the hardware health is listed (fans, voltages, etc). Is there any hope of getting some basic hardware monitoring to send email alerts of fan failure or am i screwed? Thanks!

You need vCenter to do hardware monitoring for ESX.
There are other ways to monitor such as SNMP but that is very limited.

thanks for the reply, i think i'll see how well pci passthrough works in proxmox now that 2.1 is out. I was hoping to get away from esxi at some point this seems to be a good time.
