I'm a little cornfoozled on this one. Was thinking about buying a barebones dual opteron rig from adamant.com, but when I asked them the specs on the RAM they use, they said they will only build it with PC2100 DDR, claiming that PC2700 and PC3200 are not supported and unstable. Yet I'm seeing references to *some* people here able to use PC3200 DDR with this mobo and opterons.
What gives? Can you or can you not use PC3200 and will it void any mobo warranty? Any pitfalls to be aware of?
I plan to use dual 242s initially, then most likely upgrading when the dual-core CPUs become available (or then forcing the 248s/250s to drop in price).
No overclocking planned, so can I get away with Transcend or Gigaram @ Newegg? There is just a HUGE price difference between top and bottom pricing....
Thanks in advance,
-Dan
