Dragon Touch M8 tablet keeps rebooting

I have had an issue, even after hard reset, of my tablet turning off the display, the power off button appearing or the damn thing just restarting itself constantly. Might well be a hardware issue but it can also be stable for hours at a time.

It still does these things with NO apps installed btw.

Is there a custom rom or something I can load on this to try something different from the 5.0 currently on it? I did notice the kernel date is Sept 2015 btw. Not sure what that effects as I am ignorant of android O/S.

I only paid $50 for this sucker so getting a new tablet is an option as well.

Did it even in safe mode after it updated google apps. I guess there isn't much else to do with it. Seems like some kind of app conflict with the base level stuff.
