Getting straight to the chase, I've got two PC's, one for gaming, the other for everything else, and a newly purchased D-Link DGL-4100 router. I did the quick setup on the 4100 and checked to see if I got internet access on both PC's, which I did. I browsed to a few of my regular sites, and all worked except for

That's not my main concern right now though, Steam is. I installed it on my gaming PC and when I went to start it this came up right away.
A quick Google search taught me that I needed to port forward, but that I needed to set up a static IP first.
I followed this guide to set up a static IP,
http://portforward.com/networking/static-win7.htm
and then this guide to port forward for Steam.

Long story short, that didn't work. What's my next step? I have next no networking experience. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Update:
Shortly after posting this I realized PeerBlock was blocking Steam. Stupid me, I completely forgot I was running it the whole time. So now did I really need to set up a static IP on my gaming PC? Also, any idea why some sites like the one mentioned above still won't load?
