Dead 8800 GTS 640mb - What's Comparable?

I'm kind of out of the loop lately. Have a dead 8800GTS and was simply wondering what is comparable to that performance wise nowadays from nVidia? Appreciate your input. I don't even think I will be gaming anymore on it, just got an X-Box 360.
 
I think the 9800GT would be a "comparable" card, since the 8800GT was pretty close performance-wise to the 8800GTS 640MB. The GTS 250 would be faster.
 
lol 8800GT being comparible to the 8800GTS 640? are you serious w4ffles? honestly there is nothing that compares to the crappyness of the 8800GTS 640.. if you dont plan to game but need a new graphics card.. take a look at the 9600GSO or GT.. they are decent, low power, have full cuda support(unlike the 8800GTS 640 which has partial cuda/hardware acceleration support), and can do light gaming..

Actually, the OP specifically asked about performance- not features. With that constraint, the 8800GT/9800GT (same card, just renamed) is actually the best bet. Yes, the 9600GT will draw less power, but will also be slower. And the 9600GSO, depending on which version you get, can be even cooler- albeit even more painful for gaming.
OP: an 8800GT or 9800GT is just the least bit faster than your 8800GTS, and shouldn't cost you more than $75- $100 will get you a brand new one, retail.
 
I'm guessing they'll send you a 9800GT if they do their warranty with regards to performance. Or does anyone know if they will they send something with a current market value that's the same as the amount you paid for your card?
 
I'd think that the card would be replaced with another just like it. But if there is nothing in stock, then perhaps whatever the successor card is might be sent. Who's card do you have?

Not true, I had a SLi setup of 8800GTS 640s and 9600GTs and they were virtually equal in all games I played using the same exact setting to include crysis.

Are you serious? Crappiness? That card will still do it's fair share of medium to high gaming.
 
and if you have 2 9600 GSO's in SLI.... mmmmmmmmmmmmm. pretty!
