My computer at home is running 1.53ghz (amd xp 1800+). my mobo is http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...y=BROWSE&depa=1
my mobo only has 2 slots of ddr, and 2 slots of sd ram. i have 1 stick of 256mb DDR pc2100 in my comp and that's it. It's time for an upgrade. I run a lot of programs on my computer, and i would like to buy another stick of 512mb of ddr pc 2100 to fill that last ddr spot.
However, I hear that my computer may not read or use the 512mb of ram or because of my mobo and only having 2 ddr slots? or my mobo just being "picky" and just not fully using all the ram?
Is this true? has anyone heard of anything like this? Could this really happen if i got 512mb making it 256 + 512? does the major size increase really make a difference.. ?
