Creative X-Fi + Front Audio

Got a X-Fi Xtreme audio PCIe 1x card. The manual doesnt help much.

Which do I plug in?
1) AC'97
or
2) HD Audio

Everything says its HD Audio capable, but I cant find anything that says what the front connectors are supposed to be. ><

From what I understand, it's a custom connector. You have to buy an adapter online or make your own to use the front audio.

Hmmm, i think I have a different card then. Mine is the MSI version, that came with the motherboard.

Mine is in the same format as the front connectors:

Yeah, my antec came with both AC97 and HD Audio, and they both look the same, so I have no clue what to plug in.

Oh, I see. Well, try out the HD Audio one and see if it works. If it does, SUCCESS! If not, try out the other one.

what's the difference between ac97 audio and HD audio? does HD audio just have support for an optical port?

I guess I could try out both, I just dont want it shorting somewhere and then breaking the sound card. =( And I have no clue the difference between AC97 and HD Audio.

Turns out it was HD Audio, both ports are working now. Thanks for the help everyone.
