Could I run PUGB with just getting a 1070 TI / 1080? Or should I just buy or build something new?

*** Disclosure – I have been out of the gaming and computer world for a long time! *** Also, Yes, I know my computer is old! ***

My buddy got me in to PUGB and LOL...Thus the question of what to do. Any and all guidance is appreciated!

Questions: Could I run PUGB with just getting a 1070 TI / 1080? Or should I just buy or build something new?

These are the recommended systems requirements for PUGB:

OS: 64-bit Windows 10
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5-1600 / Intel Core i5-7600K
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB or better

This is from PCGamer and is for running at 1080p 60 fps

1070/1080 are cheaper nowadays you can pop one in and see how you can tolerate the slower CPU. (I had Xeon X5650 @ 4ghz and 1080 Ti and it ran decent but not 100% smooth, same with Ryzen 1600 @ 4ghz and 1080 Ti)

If you're building for PUBG specifically then an Intel system is the only way to go for PUBG, minimums are wayyyyy better than Ryzen or your current setup.

Thanks! I was honestly thinking the same thing and just going to go ahead and buy or build a new rig. It will cost like $400-500 for a 1070/1080 and for $1,000.00 ish, I can get the whole computer. What do you think of the Dell I selected? https://m.dell.com/h5/m/r/outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineSales/Online/SecondaryInventorySearch.aspx?c=us&cs=22&l=en&s=dfh&sign=PXhcOSHtr1T4IOw/PR7UdVAc+SESMXHXNlNOMqBoTqG2fm1gEGB4OFFYdhxZuA3Z7ZQot4IdaWvv4FbAn8C8g984VPgxVw2H1Ie/iuyn3fl/S47/iJ3615A40jw8mClAlflka2VWBB27zZMVgnWB+k+3xJxzjSEIrKPJYMs8VJNbi0gnGO7V5Q3AS7GDFT0y

I'm going to say YES ! you can also buy a cheap Xeon off ebay that has more cores and see if it will work in your motherboard.

That's odd i have a 2700x and a GTX 1080 and Pubg runs very smooth. I get good frames even at 1440p

I ran PUBG on an i7 950 overclocked to 4ghz and a GTX 970 with reasonable graphics settings, and I think it ran pretty good.

So now my system is an x5670 at 4ghz
Gigabyte ga-x58-ud5 R2 Motherboard
24gb ram,
GTX 970 (with a gtx 1080 on the way)
256GB SSD

I think its runs better with the xeon, and I have run it with a gtx 1070 and it runs even better.

I'd say along with the GPU you may want to try to find a bit more ram and an inexpensive SSD, but that does end up adding up and that new system would probably be pretty big upgrade.

Just saying, with a little overclocking and the new GPU you could probably play it fine to see if you stick with the game... PUBG and its bugs get old.

its also not like you can't carry the GPU to a new system

I would buy the video card first and try it with your current system. The i7 920 is really held back by only running at 2.6Ghz. If you're able to overclock to ~4Ghz or so it would run as lot better.

I set my friend up with an identical system. i7 920 with 6gb on an Asus board with a 1070ti. He averages above 70fps @2560x1440.

I'd say my x5670 with my 1070 I had had for a couple weeks was 100-120 fps with mixed settings in pubg at 1080p. I turn down a few settings that will help keep the frames high.
