Looking to use a UniFI AP (simple b/g/n) unit for now and upgrade to AC down the road. Because of this I'm looking for a new router that can handle better than average traffic but not burdened by wireless and I would prefer a simple interface (e.g. like a typical consumer router). I was looking at the RT-AC66U...but I really want wireless to be rock solid in our whole house..and thus willing to overkill it with the AP.

Budget on the router is ~$100-$150.

Thoughts?

The RT-N66U gets as good of reception in my house as does a standard Unifi AP. I'm only using it solely as an AP though. I wanted dual band but wasn't going to shell out 250 for UAP-Pro.

I use a Unifi AP with my Trendnet router,I dont use the wifi on the router at all and have no problems with large file transfers over wifi and wired
