I'm trying to compress about 110 JPG files to send to a few different ppl. The files add up to about 70MB. I've used Winzip & WinRAR as compression mediums and i've only reached 68MB. I understand why that is (Because the whole JPG and other formats are already compressed... and so on). Question: What is the best method for compression for JPG GIF ..etc. I also have to take into consideration that recieving side is limited in compression knowledge as well as software. (Meaning that a self-extracting whatever would be right up there ally)

Thanks

JPG and GIF files are already heavily compressed. 68MB is about the best compression you are going to get using any compression format.

Making the file self extracting will add about 100KB to the file.

As stevewm pointed out JPEG and GIF are the compressed formats
( I once emailed a friend a high res .tif and locked up his computer for a half hour :p )
An image editor like Photoshop, would allow you to change the parameters to meet the size requirement (at the expense of image quality)

and there is now a Windows compatible version of GIMP (Freeware)
