Compaq 722US CPU upgrade?

I have a Compaq 722US that has a 1.1 Duron CPU. I do not know to much about laptops so I was wondering if it is worth upgrading the CPU to a Athlon Mobile XP chip. Or can that even be done? It is a pretty good laptop and I would like to keep it but runs really slow.
