Cell Phone Data Recovery

I have several cell phones (all Android OS) that I need to get things like pictures and videos off of but in one way or another, the phones are broken. Usually, having to do with either the battery or the screen but I know the data storage chips are still intact. Is there any sort of DIY/at home way of recovering the data on these phones and not having to send them away to some data recovery company?
 
You should be able to remove the eMMC chip and then you'll need something like this. Tagging in Google AI here:
