Hi all..................

Are there any Catalyst drivers that support Windows 8 and HD 4770 crossfire?

Windows Vista uses WDDM 1.0 drivers
Windows 7 uses WDDM 1.1 drivers
Windows 8 uses WDDM 1.2 drivers

The good news being that WDDM drivers are all forward and backward compatible.

I don't believe it's even possible to have WDDM 1.2 drivers for DirectX 10/10.1 hardware, but there should be no issues using WDDM 1.1 / Windows 7 drivers on Windows 8. You should even be able to use Vista drivers if you had no other option.

I can get them to work in basic mode but there is no setting for crossfire or overclocking :(

Windows 8 is looking weak if it can't support such a simple task that works with XP, Vista and W7.

Or you know, maybe support for a 3 year old niche configuration that never made sense with mid to low end cards even for the time isn't top of the list for AMD.

It sure as hell has nothing to do with anything inherent in Windows 8.

2xHD47770 was actually very popular not that long ago. 3 years isn't a long time ago.

Oktober is release day for win 8, then drivers will be there.
before that there be issues with set ups like crossfire.

Looks like AMD won't be doing Win 8 drivers for HD 4000 and down :( They'll only be doing drivers for the HD 5000 and up series.

They did the exact same thing with their previous cards that were moved to the legacy driver. To this date, there have never been Windows 7 drivers released for their DirectX9 GPUs.

Note: AMD’s DirectX 9 ATI Radeon graphics accelerators are not officially supported under Windows 7. If the user chooses to, they can install the ATI Catalyst Windows Vista graphics driver under Windows 7. Please be aware that none of the new Windows 7 graphics driver (WDDM 1.1) features are supported (as the Windows Vista level graphics driver is limited to WDDM 1.0 level support).

As you might have noticed, that didn't exactly result in outrage among users of those cards. That is because WDDM 1.0 drivers meant for Vista work on windows 7 without any issues, just like WDDM 1.1 drivers meant for Windows 7 will work just fine on Windows 8.

Aside from Metro and the mess Microsoft is making out of the UI, Windows 8 at it's core is little more than a service pack for Windows 7. There is absolutely nothing that should require new drivers, or preclude Windows 7 drivers from functioning properly.
