Can c2d E6600 be burned?

It's absolute maximum is 85 and it throttles at 80, right? I'm asking because my cooler was badly seated and i got some pretty high temperatures (65-70). Now i'm just thinking was burning possible and is my cpu hurt in any way

Now it's working just fine around 30

No. I did the same thing when I first tried booting up. It kept shutting off and I was like wtf.....then I finally made it into the bios long enough to check the temps and yeah...it was hitting 70 in no time


Went back and pushed in the heatsink a bit harder and it popped in.

I kinda sorta misseated my tuniq and ran mine at 120 for about 24 hours (just assumed it was cooling right), and its still ok. So yours is fine

Same mistake

When i first installed box cooler, i could swear i heared four clicks, but, something wierd obviously happened
