bluray please help

I got windows xp sp3 and I just bought a bluray external and I cant get it to run on my laptop does it only work with vista?

is there a work around, I installed the power dvd bluray edition that I got with the player but it wont work still... any ideas.
 
yea it will read dvds and cds just not bluray disk says unsupported, but if I put it on my desktop it works fine, but its running vista, I want it to run on my laptop in frontroom running xp
 
What videocard do you have? Is the card or the display hdcp compatible? I believe powerdvd has a compatibility assessment program that will tell you.
