Bitlocker drive encryption on a laptop with TPM

Hi guys,
is there any way to enable drive encryption so I will not get any penalty on system performance or at least that it will be small enough to consider it neglectable? I will have TPM on my system.
I would like not to buy a super expansive SSD like 850 with HW encryption capabilities.
Is it doable without such a drive?
 
Look into Crucial drives that support Microsoft BitLocker (eDrive). The MX series should support it.
