Ok so i just got a Asus eeePC 1000HA and want to install linux. now after doing some research so far from what i have looked through eeebuntu standard edition seems to fit my needs. I basically want a lightweight distribution with compiz. Let me here your suggestions on best linux ditro for netbooks mainly eee.

There's always Ubuntu Remix, designed for Netbooks in general.

Or you could start from scratch and do an Arch custom build just for yourself, literally from the command line up, adding only what you specifically need/want.

Gentoo or Arch would be great if you know how to install them and know what packages you need and don't need.

Otherwise, any of those 'Netbook' distributions will be fine, or you could try Puppy or Damn Small Linux.

Like somebody else pointed out, if you put Compiz on your 'lightweight' distro, it's not going to be lightweight anymore.

xubuntu would be something worth looking into in your situation.
