My LG L227WTG (22" 1680x1050) died on me. I was happy with that monitor, the colors were good (to me), and there was no ghosting.

Now I'm trying to decide between a 24" (ish) or a 27" 1920X1080. First basic question is, does 1920x1080 on a 27" look too stretched in general, so it's not even worth considering? Main concern is ghosting/response time. I also like glossy, but apparently matte is generally more "color accurate"?

For 27", I was looking at these:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236091

Or I can get a "better" 24"(ish) one. Was looking at:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236049

and monitors similar to that.

The monitor will be primarily for gaming (and browsing the internet). I'm not into Photoshop or anything like that, and I doubt I'd be able to tell the difference in "accurate color reproduction." I think there is a Dell IPS panel for around $300, but I read that it wasn't good for gaming because of the response time?

Thanks for any info, insight, or opinions.

EDIT: Also found a seemingly nice 120Hz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236104 A bit more, but maybe worth it?

Glossy is actually more vibrant than matte.

As for the 24'' vs 27'' debate, your choice will probably come down to personal preference. I'd always sacrifice resolution for more screen size (since I prefer larger texts and images), but many won't because of the lowered pixel density.

Here are some of my suggestions for monitors:

HP 2511X (25-inch glossy screen): http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+25...218291944678&skuId=1791143&st=2511x&cp=1&lp=1 (currently cheapest at Best Buy, though you could check others)

Planar PX2710MW (27-inch 1080p): http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...66643&acd=10550055-1225267-u0t0f0fp0dd0c0s441 (use coupon code MPCHGPWGCNWMV2 for $250 off)

Dell U2312HM (23-inch IPS with virtually no input lag): http://www.amazon.com/UltraSharp-U2312HM-LED-LCD-Monitor/dp/B005HIJXVC
