Hi all... I have a socket 939 X2 3800 & I'm ready to upgrade. I looked at the I5 but I think I would be just as happy with a Phenom II X4. I'm looking at the 965 or 955. My question is what motherboard do you recommend for this chip. I overclock some & game some but not a whole lot. I have a HD4870 in my current box now. I was planning on just getting a new MB & Proc & some DDR3 memory. I don't ever plan on SLI or anything so 1 slot is fine & I don't do any raid either. I'm looking at the 100-125 dollar price. I plan on running Win 7 64 bit. I'm confused as to all the AM2, AM2+ & AM3 boards. I want something that will last 3 yrs or so. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I also plan on keeping my current box (I have a different case to move everything over to).

if you go with the 965 or 955 spend the extra 10-15 dollars on the C3 stepping model because they use a lower voltage/TDP, as well as having a better DDR3 IMC..

if you plan to stay with a single card and you want AM3/DDR3 take a look at the 770 and 785g chipset boards.. the 770's have some great overclocking potential with FSB overclocking(even though its not required with a black edition processor) especially the MSI 770 board.. if you plan to go crossfire then you would want to look into the 790x or 790GX.. or even the 790FX boards.. do not waste your money on nvidia chipset boards either..

the 770 and 785's should fall within your 100-125 dollar budget.. especially the 785g's..

those are a couple options just to give you an idea of some very good boards within your budget..
