Whats the deal with the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB at NewEGG for 223. Did they gimp the memory bus or other features of the card?

Looks legit to me.

I think what's happening is that ATI (only) has been having a big push to get rid of their existing stock of 9800 Pro cards. The reason I say this is that the last 6 weeks Fry's Electronics in the DFW area has been having sales almost every week on the 9800 Pro 128mb for as little as $178 ($72 less than BB) and the 9800 AIW for $300 ($100 less than BB). I had Best Buy price match a 9800 Pro 2 weeks ago.

After all the 9800 Pro is really a 3rd gen card NOW, after the X800 and 9800XT cards. But's there's nothing wrong with a 9800 Pro in any case. My 9800 Pro will be the last AGP card I ever buy anyway.

uhm there was a stink in some thread (cant find it now) about sapphire radeon 9800PROs all of a sudden running 128 bit memory interfaces instead of 256bit, which equals out to lower performance.

ATI makes the chip... and that may have been what you meant...scuse me I was only trying to help

I know ATi makes the GPU. They also make the boards. The card in question is a Built by ATi board. There is also a Sapphire board, its 256bit also.

Damn, I wish it would've been that low when i bought mine, i paid about that for my 128mb.

provided it is a true card, not some crippled thing
