Hello.

I'm a novice when it comes to personal computers. I'd like to replace the memory I have to speed our pc up a bit. I'm using Windows XP, SP3. The current memory I have is:

4GB DDR2 PC2-8500, DDR2 PC2-6400, CL-6.0

I'm thinking of replacing it with one of the following:

Crucial: 4GB kit (2GBx2) DDR2 PC2-8500 • CL=7 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-1066 • 1.8V or,

G.SKILL F2-6400CL4D-4GBPI-B:DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Cas Latency 4, 1.8V - 1.9V (http://www.newegg.com/Product/NewProduct.aspx?Item=N82E16820231209) or,

Kingston HyperX Memory

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you.

You'd be burning cash for no reason. The performance benefit from that replacement would be negligible at best. I'm not even being rude here, you're looking to spend money on a lateral move with zero benefit to the system's performance.

Don't waste your money in this direction. You need to be working toward a newer CPU and mainboard, which will necessitate DDR3 anyway.

I agree, don't waste the money. You can probably find better things to spend it on or save for a newer system.
